This build would be vastly improved by EBSoH. At which point it becomes basically identical to the earth variant only it doesn't KD or cause blind.

Yup, but it burns. And in certain situations I find it more useful than KD'ing and/or blinding.

I'd be tempted to take Meteor Shower (perhaps replacing YMLAD and sticking EBSOH or Ural's in the optional. Meteor Shower's AoE knockdowns should be enough to keep the enemy snared for the other AoE skills to get through.
Take a rit with Earthbind and nothing will get out of it.

The only thing you need to be careful of then is over exhaustion.

Regarding the builds:
The Earth builds seems to be a variant on the HM earth build I use myself. I personally would ditch Mindbender and Ward Against Melee and take YMLAD and EVAS instead. To counter the lack of Mindbender, just take a 40/40 set.

The Fire build is a different story. I would either take the standard SF build or run AP with Searing Heat, Teinai's Heat, GoLe, EVAS, YMLAD, Fire Attunement and an optional skill. If used correctly it does more than enough damage.

Oh, and on a side note: Fire DOES work in HM. So don't listen to all that "it's not armor ignoring"-crap. It just depends on the build.

A 40/40 set is unreliable - I already have problems with the Earth build when it comes to pulling off the nuke chain fast enough. Sometimes it works really well, other times.. it doesn't.

There's nothing wrong about playing with fire, but giving up blind and knockdown on a build style that doesn't even give top-tier damage is a bit wtf.

If i run an air ele and my nec hero brings the skill weaken armor.. is shell shock still needed then?

I dont think so, no. However, there's better skills to bring on necros instead of Weaken Armor

If you're an elementalist seeking to do elemental damage, Weaken Armour is invaluable. It is the most effecient way to spread Cracked Armour and that will boost your damage by a good degree.

It may even be possible for the human to bring Weaken Armour (it's better than Shell Shock at any rate).

Considered using Lightning Javelin instead of Lightning Strike and Bolt for your "cheap line"? The recharge is high enough to be getting more casts off than Bolt and Strike combined, and apart from not applying Cracked Armour and being 5 energy cheaper, casting Javelin twice is roughly equivalent to Orb once - except that you're less susceptible to disruption.

Oh, and Javelin also has the effect of causing some disruption to enemy physicals - if you cast it on recharge, you're probably stopping about half their attacks.

Myself, my air line tends to go Air Attunement, Blinding Surge, Shock Arrow, Lightning Javelin. Rest is utility stuff (PvE or secondary skills), res, possibly the new Aura of Restoration and/or Elemental Lord. I used to use things like Enervating Charge, Lightning Orb/Shell Shock, and Epidemic for the condition spread, but the curses necro will dish out the cracked armour and weakness conditions more effectively and efficiently.
